The social-media feeds were dominated by the Cycladic islands last summer and it’s not a surprise considering the natural beauty of these islands. They are in the Aegean Sea and are known for their distinctive architectural style, white-washed buildings, and blue-domed churches. The Cycladic Islands are also famous for their beautiful beaches, crystal-clear waters, and rich cultural heritage, making them sought-after destinations for travelers seeking stunning natural landscapes and authentic Greek experiences. The warm Mediterranean climate, and the authentic Greek hospitality further enhance its allure.
There are around 220 islands and islets in the group of the Cyclades, however only a fraction of them is inhabited. The most well-known are Santorini, Mykonos, Paros, Naxos, and Milos. Each of those islands have their own character and beauty and it’s difficult to decide, which one fits best to your wedding dreams if you haven’t seen them all. Paros has it all to design your fairytale destination wedding and I tell you why:
Paros is not as crowded and overpriced as Santorini and Mykonos and makes your dream wedding much more affordable. It’s not a hidden gem anymore as years ago, but in terms of wedding planning this has advantages only. A lot of professional and high-quality vendors are available on the island as Paros became one of the leading Greek wedding destinations. Therefore, the wedding vendors don’t have to come from Athens anymore, which make logistics much easier and more affordable.
The island is easily accessible with its own airport and frequent ferry schedule. The location of Paros in the Cyclades is ideal as its central and therefore the perfect starting point for a honeymoon island hopping. As well for your wedding guests its ideal to explore other islands after or before the wedding days.
But what I love most about Paros is the 7-minute ferry ride to its smaller sister Antiparos. How great is it to be able to explore two different islands and to let your guests experience the same. I love to plan an Antiparos experience into the wedding schedule either the day before or after the wedding day. This island has such a special vibe that can’t be missed. Hidden beaches, the most turquoise water, caves, exclusive shops and simple farm life… Antiparos is the place to be!
Both islands offer an abundance of unique experiences for you and your guests like sailing trips to explore the most turquoise waters and private coves, dinners in authentic Greek tavernas right on the water or in small Cycladic alleys or sunset drinks with the most stunning views overlooking the Aegean Sea.
If you are dreaming about an intimate wedding with a setting in a private villa by the sea or a big celebration in an upscale beach club or beach restaurant, Paros offers it all. In the last years the options of stunning wedding venues increased a lot and there is an abundance of luxury villas, beautiful boutique hotels right on the beach or with an incredible view, exclusive beach clubs and restaurants to choose from.
I got married on the island of Antiparos in 2019 and I couldn’t imagine a better place to say YES I DO. That’s why I decided to help other couples as a German wedding planner in Paros to make their Greek wedding dreams come true!
